Help disPLAYced move from idea to stage: our crowdfunding campaign

2026

Ukrainian International Ballet has launched a crowdfunding campaign on voordekunst for disPLAYced, our new dance-theatre production. The campaign runs until 30 November 2026.

What is disPLAYced?
To play. To invent something. To trust someone. For a child, these things should be ordinary. disPLAYced is a production about what war does to a child’s inner world, and about what it takes to make space for play, imagination, trust and an ordinary childhood to return. Professional dancers, children and young performers, and veterans will come together on stage. Classical ballet, contemporary dance and visual theatre will form one theatrical world with a child’s imagination at its centre. It will be our third major original project and our most ambitious production so far, with a premiere planned in the Netherlands in October 2027.

What are we raising €17,000 for?
The artistic foundation already exists. What we need now is the professional structure behind the stage. The campaign will finance one intensive development month with three experienced professionals: a production manager, a fundraiser and a marketing strategist, about 60 hours of work each. By the end of that month we aim to have a production roadmap, a fundraising strategy, a marketing strategy, clear responsibilities, a realistic timeline and a concrete route from concept to premiere.

Why this matters beyond one performance
Ukrainian International Ballet is a small Dutch foundation created by Ukrainian ballet artists who had to rebuild their professional lives in Europe after being displaced by the war. Much of what we have achieved, we have learned while doing it. The knowledge, methods and systems developed during this month will stay within UIB. Your contribution helps disPLAYced move forward today and helps our organisation become stronger and more independent for the future.

Transparency
disPLAYced also has a social connection to Ptakha Camp in Ukraine, where children and families affected by war are given space for recovery. The €17,000 raised through this campaign will be used exclusively for the professional development team behind disPLAYced. Fundraising for Ptakha Camp is a separate strand with its own reporting.

How to support
Contributions start at €10. Supporters of €50 and more receive the digital booklet and an invitation to an online project update; from €125 you can attend an open rehearsal in The Hague and meet the makers. If the goal is not reached, every contribution is refunded.
